TMI Associates established the Fukuoka Office as a 6th domestic hub on February 17, 2020.

Conveniently accessible from within Japan and abroad, Fukuoka is an easy-to-live-in city that has been enjoying a continuous population increase even in recent years. The city not only has been historically active in the fields of industry, agriculture, and fishing, but also has a vibrant services industry and multiple startups. Having the largest population in the Kyushu region, Fukuoka daily makes us feel the energetic movement of many industries. All seven (7) prefectures in Kyushu have made concerted and united efforts to engage in economic activities, etc. and, sometimes in cooperation with Okinawa, have focused on exchanges and cross-border transactions not only in Japan, but also with Korea and China, located closer than Tokyo, as well as with major cities in Southeast Asia. For many enterprises, various efforts towards globalization are already embedded in daily life.

TMI will make full use of the wide range of the business areas, expertise, and abundant experience that TMI has fostered for the 30 years since its establishment. Doing so, TMI will provide the services of attorneys with a deep understanding of the standards both in Japan and abroad and with the considerable experience required for Fukuoka and Kyusyu enterprises to expand the scope of their activities globally and to attract new business opportunities from around the world to Kyushu. Needless to say, for issues focusing on Japan and Kyushu, attorneys with local roots and a great deal of experience are ready to respond.

We greatly appreciate your continued patronage.

detail
I started my career as an IP lawyer in Japan and then spent approximately nine years in the U.K. During that time, I gained invaluable knowledge and experience, mainly in corporate transactions with a focus on cross-border M&A, both as an in-house attorney and in private practice. Since my return to Japan, my cases are almost entirely cross-border. I look forward to meeting new people in Fukuoka.
