Morgan Lewis-TMI

Morgan Lewis-TMI is a unique joint venture established in Japan on September 28, 2005 between TMI Associates and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP.

This joint venture is distinctive because, in addition to offering streamlined services to its clients, it undertakes joint projects where Morgan Lewis and TMI are on equal footing. Creating this gaikokuho kyodo jigyo (“GKJ”) where the large Japanese and American law firms share equal roles can be considered a first for this type of joint venture.

Morgan Lewis-TMI has Japanese and U.S. attorneys covering a broad range of practice areas and knowledge about local legal issues. It also has one of the largest global networks connecting many law firms worldwide. Using this foundation, Morgan Lewis-TMI, more than any other domestic law firm, can provide the most appropriate advice in Japanese or English necessary to handle its clients’ international transactions. Morgan Lewis-TMI thus strives to live up to all its clients’ expectations.

TMI Associates and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP are targeting Japanese companies interested in expanding their businesses abroad, mainly to the U.S., and American companies seeking entry into Japan. TMI Associates and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP share common strengths in M&A and finance, among other areas, allowing Morgan Lewis-TMI to offer efficient, borderless legal services in the following:

  • M&A;
  • life sciences;
  • securities;
  • technology;
  • private equity;
  • finance;
  • fund services; and
  • emerging growth companies (start-up ventures/venture capitalists).
