Brazil, which has a population of over 200 million and abundant natural resources, is expected to achieve further growth. A corruption survey suggests that Brazil somehow lacks political stability. However, the Brazilian government generally treats domestic and foreign companies equally, and the impact that political risks may have on businesses is insignificant. Brazil is still considered to be a stable country to do business.
Nevertheless, the geographical distance between Japan and Brazil, as well as different languages and business practices involved, make it extremely difficult for Japanese companies to learn about Brazil’s legal information and practice.
Therefore, TMI sent one of its attorneys to Brazil in 2012 to work locally and has since provided professional legal services to its clients in collaboration with its local desk and an extensive network of other leading law firms in Brazil. TMI is the only Japanese law firm in Brazil to have a long-term resident Japanese attorney.
