To reflect the "pro-patent era," the government established the Industrial Property Council, an advisory panel to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, in order to discuss amendments to the current intellectual property laws. Following a number of sessions, it was unanimously agreed that the amendments would be implemented in the next fiscal year.
