2026年4月8日、当事務所と大韓民国国会図書館（所在地：韓国ソウル特別市、館長：黃貞根(ファン・ジョングン）、以下 韓国国会図書館）は、学術情報の利用に関する協定（MOU）を締結いたしました。韓国国会図書館と日本の法律事務所との協定は、初の取り組みです。本提携により、韓国国会図書館の法学資料やデジタルライブラリーの当事務所の活用を推進し、高度な知財紛争やクロスボーダー案件に対し、韓国の最新公的リソースを活用した迅速かつ精緻なリーガルサービスを提供してまいります。

　

■協定締結の背景と目的

近年、企業のグローバル展開に伴い、各国の法制度や最新の学術的議論に基づいた法的知見の重要性が高まっています。当事務所は、韓国における最高峰の知的基盤である韓国国会図書館と連携することで、より迅速かつ精緻なリーガルリサーチを実現し、複雑化する国際案件への対応力を強化することを目指します。

本協定は、知的財産分野に精通した弁護士を多数擁し、世界19拠点にネットワークを展開する当事務所と韓国国会図書館が連携し、韓国国会図書館が保有する情報・知識資源を共有していただくことを目的としています。

■連携・協力の主な内容

本締結に基づき、以下の項目について協力体制を構築します。

• 韓国国会図書館のデジタルライブラリーのアクセス: 韓国国会図書館の保有するデジタル化された
  学術資料や判例、論文等へのアクセス権取得。
• 人的交流の検討: 当事務所が持つ国際的な実務知見と、同図書館が持つ理論的背景を交換し、
  日韓両国の法学発展に寄与。

連携事項を効果的に実施するため、具体的な実施内容については、両者が協議の上決定していく予定です。

今後、両国間の法律情報の交流が持続的に拡大し、相互の発展に寄与することを願っています。

TMI Associates and the National Assembly Library of the Republic of Korea 
Sign an Academic Information Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

On April 8, 2026, TMI Associates (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Managing Partner: Katsuro Tanaka) and the National Assembly Library of the Republic of Korea (Head Office: Seoul, Republic of Korea; Director-General: Jung-Geun Hwang) entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the use of academic information.

This marks the first-ever partnership between the National Assembly Library of Korea and a Japanese law firm. Through this collaboration, TMI aims to promote the utilization of the National Assembly Library of Korea’s legal resources and digital library. The partnership will enable TMI to leverage Korea’s latest public legal resources, thereby delivering swift, precise, and highly sophisticated legal services, particularly in complex intellectual property disputes and cross-border matters.

Background and Purpose of this MOU
With the acceleration of global business activities in recent years, the importance of legal expertise grounded in each country’s legal system and up-to-date academic discussions has grown significantly. By collaborating with the National Assembly Library of Korea—one of Korea’s most authoritative academic and legal research institutions—TMI aims to further enhance its legal research capabilities and strengthen its ability to respond to increasingly complex international matters.
This MOU brings together TMI, a comprehensive service law firm with a strong focus on intellectual property and a global network spanning 19 locations worldwide, and the National Assembly Library of Korea. The objective is to share and jointly utilize the extensive knowledge and information resources held by the National Assembly Library of Korea.

Main Areas of Cooperation
Based on the agreement, the parties will work together on the following initiatives:

• Access to the National Assembly Library of Korea’s Digital Library
  Access to digitized academic materials, court decisions, journals, and research papers held by the National Assembly Library of Korea.
• Consideration of Professional and Academic Exchanges
  Exploring opportunities to combine TMI’s international legal practice expertise with the National Assembly Library of Korea’s theoretical and academic strengths, contributing to the advancement of legal studies in both Japan and Korea.
